I love this.
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Erin McKeown - especially You, Sailor.
Tracie,
Ohhhh, I do not know Erin McKeown, but I must go discover her now.
Some of these are new to me. My newest like is Mumford and Sons. I always have Pandora on when I'm writing.
ohhh I <3 music!
nostalgia - "Champange Supernova" Oasis
release - "ode to the Butterfly" Nickel Creek
regret - "Hallelujah" Jeff Buckley
confidence - "Whom Shall I Fear" Chris Tomlin
sing out - "We are young" Fun (love them)
I could do this all day! I'm going to look up some of yours now :)
Lisa,
I'm a Pandora girl too and yes, good 'ol Mumford and Sons.
Karrie,
I agree I can do this all day too! When people tell me they don't like music or don't have any favorites, it's like saying they don't read. I just don't understand it! Thanks for the great list.
Contemplating and deep: try Kathryn Calder..."So Easily." Sara McLaughlin too.
When I am doing art, I like to listen to Enya, or Middle Eastern music.
For working out, I seriously have to put on 80's rock bands, Skillet, Disciple and or Nickel Back.
For regret, pity parties, pain or struggles:
Boys like girls- "Thunder" or Jack's Mannequin "Dark Blue" or The Fray.
I am excited to check out some on your list.
Um, how come I don't see Ketih Green or Russ Taff on this list? Trumpet of Jesus?
You have always pointed me in the right direction with music, so I am headed to check out these links.
my latest crush: Maeve.
here, singing Magnificat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s7krvRJsmU
grab a cup of coffee and hear it to the end, for it gets better and better.
other than that, it seems like i listen to whatever my teens are listening to. and no, that's not as sad as it seems :-)
steph
love music ... can't wait to check out some of your choices!!
You are always a musical guru. I get stuck on people for a long spell, but right now I'm in between. Thanks for the new finds. Maybe one of these will get stuck for awhile.
Love this post. Been thinking on it for awhile, trying to compile my list.... hard thing for a music lover to do, narrow down to only a few faves. I will give it a shot though!
Currently on my playlist:
For a kid-friendly dance party, complete with fiddle, I *love* David Crowder Band:

For great guitar, insightful lyrics, and a blast right back to college for me... Indigo Girls for sure:

Casting Crowns is one of my all time favorite bands, especially the conviction that their lyrics bring:

Tommy Emmanuel is one of the best guitarists alive; what a talent!

I cannot stop! Gotta also give a shout out to Peter, Paul & Mary and, of course, The Beatles. Where would music be without the Beatles?
Plus the rock ballads of the 80s (Bon Jovi rocks!!)
I seriously *adore* just about everything Sara Groves has ever done:

Most of Steven Curtis Chapman's work since his daughter's death is very poignant... very real and raw:

Love you, friend! I have about 100 other things to add to this list, but I think I should stop here. :-)
