Last week, this one repeatedly snuck girls over to her cubby and gave them ChapStick "makeovers".
My girl, I love her for collecting bugs and holding in-class makeovers. I know, babe, I know. Those girls just needed a "little lipstick". I hear you.
Mothering girls is a crazy, crazy gig.
I'm collecting all kinds of girly resources here.
So, if you like braids, this place is for you, and if you like slime, this place is for you. If you want ideas for pillow talk or date days with your girls, or the scoop on how-to create glow in the dark finger nails, guess what? You know it, this place is for you.
I'd also like to ask you a favor.
Yes, pleasy.
Can you answer the following questions in the comments?
1. Do you have a tween girl (age 8-12)?
and
2. Do you have any favorite online resources, books, blogs, conferences, or overall fabulous goodness I could add to my growing resource list on Raising Girls? Resources for any age girl is appropriate. Feel free to leave links to anything you've written about your daughters as well.
Thanks for the good ideas. What? I know you haven't shared them yet, but, oh, I can already tell they are going to be good.

ohmygoodness. that's straight adorable!
Such a cutie! We have many lipstick moments here. Makes the day better. :) My tween will be 10 soon. She likes AlwaysIceCream.com, a game/social site for girls.
My little one turns 7 on Wednesday. Are you really telling me that in one more year she will officially be a "tween"? I refuse to believe! No.Way. Be still my heart, I'm hyperventilating, Amy.
So lovely, I have an 8 and a half year old! I'm not sure I have anything you haven't discovered already :) I'll give it a good think today :)
Love this. Mine are 7 and 5 and they run rings round me already. But so, so beautiful.
Amy, she has to be the cutest thing ever. I love the chapstick makeovers.
Here are some of my favorite places:

Love this post, Amy. And yes, mothering girls is a crazy, crazy gig/
I love Five Love Languages for Kids (for girls and boys); this has really helped me.
Also, Raising Up Girls by Dobson (and Raising Up Boys by Dobson, interestingly enough).
:)
Erin @ Whatever Girls has a fabulous ministry going. There is a prayer group, too, that she hosts on FB. I'm sure she would love to tell you more about it.
And I just read the comments and noticed that she has already told you about Whatever Girls. I like the MOD Squad by Stacey Thacker!
And (gulp!) I now have a tween. Oh my!
Fab, fab ideas, ladies. Keep 'em coming. I will go through and pin to the Raising Girls board later this week!
I was just about to say The Whatever Girls, but Erin and Jen beat me to it! I have two tween girls - yikes! One of my favourite series that I've done with my girls and they have done in SS is by Vicky Courtney called Between. There's three books and they are laid out in a magazine format with quizzes, etc., but they are really good Bible Studies that generate some good discussion. I liked them so much I got my church started on using them for our tween girls classes!
Your girls are both so awesome, and this Ruby story is too cute. Love that pic. I don't have a lot of resources, but I did just read a post this morning about starting small groups for girls. It has some great ideas and resources. http://thehomemaderenegade.com
The actual link is really long, but it's today's post :)
Oh, raising girls IS a crazy gig! I have 3 girls; 2 years, newly 13 years, and 18 years old! Yikes! With one little boy sandwiched in between.
I wrote these 2 letters to my youngest and eldest, but I still have my middle girl's in drafts. I will be posting hers February :) Let me know if you ever want to chat about raising daughters :)

I love the book: Bringing up Girls by Dobson
You have a precious little girl in that picture there :)
Had to leave the full link to Lori's suggestion because it's so, so good!

I know, I know. Crazy long, but yes, good.
No tweens yet, and I am raising boys, oh my! I wish I had a better answer. Raising Girls by James Dobson is all that came to mind.
No tweens for me right now. But I have a 16 yr old daughter and a 6 year old daughter. So I've done the tween thing and will be doing it again shortly.
The Whatever Girls has already been mentioned. Five Love Languages and Boundaries for Kids. I'm curious to read the final list you compile as I'm sure times have changed since I needed this 10 years ago!
Chapstick makeovers. :-) Isn't it lovely how their personalities and gifts unfold before us? As Max Lucado said in Cure for the Common Life, “Don’t see your child as a blank slate awaiting your pen, but as a written book awaiting your study.” A great book for everyone in the family, including kids.
I would also recommend Positive Discipline by Jane Nelson. Although secular, it was a great resource for us, and she has different versions for different age groups.
What a great idea to have a resource on Pinterest for raising daughters! I can only imagine the families whose lives you will touch.
Thanks for the offer to link up daughter posts. I have written many, but here are a few of my favorites. :-)
A post with my first vlog, with my oldest, about when she was little and tested me on our new rules.

A great way to hold conversations with your daughters, or sons:

A post when my youngest was a teen-a very, very, difficult period.

No daughters here, but oh my ovaries, that is a cute picture!
