Recently, I attended a birthday party for some women I know,
and each time I think back on the party my heart dances. The
presents these ladies received were simple. Think travel-sized lotions and make-up bags, but
these tiny gifts induced giggles and smiles.
Even more than lotion and make-up bags, these women loved
being celebrated. Don’t we all? Another party is coming, and I wanted to
contribute to the celebration, but I didn't have anything to give.
So, I looked in our closet and found these goodies bought on
super sale for a party I hosted, but never handed out.
In the bag, these boxes don’t look fabulous, but line
them up, and bam!
But, empty boxes aren’t a great gift even if they
do have sparkly, blue butterflies on them. So I dug under my bed and found this
coated in dust.
It’s jewelry making supplies, and even though I couldn't remember how to string together elaborate designs, I still came up with these.
Then, I enlisted my girl, and she added a little flair to our butterfly boxes.
Ta-da, gifts for the birthday girls.
This process reminds me we all have things to
give. No, maybe not butterfly boxes, but talents hidden under our beds, dusty
from years of no use.
Dust off your talents. Someone is in need of your mad skills.
What are your underused talents? Baking? Listening? Painting? I'd love to know.: :

Hidden talents...what are mine? Where are mine? Are they hidden even from me? Praying for revelation... Thanks, Amy.
Since my friends aren't overwhelmed when I give them writing gifts - I do baked gifts, like my grandmother's coffee cakes or cupcakes - depending on what they like! That they love! (I'll do scarves I knit, too).
Hi Amy.
Still remember me? I always drop by, reading your ever inspiring posts...
The topic, 'gifts'interests me.
I love wrapping gifts as much as giving them away to friends, students and love ones. My gifts are with little cards and they are always tied with heartstrings.
Lisa,
You ooze talent. I hate that so often it's hard for us to see our own talents when it's obvious to others.
Maryleigh,
Baked goods, baked goods, bring on the baked goods.
I love the earrings...just beautiful. I guess sometimes I think...I am the jack of all trades...the master of none. No real outstanding hidden talents...but I am learning more who I am in Christ...how He calls me to walk. blessings to you~
Oh, so creative. I was just thinking I need to pull out all of my scrap booking stuff and make some books or do it on-line, which I like too. But there is nothing like a hand made gift...and these would be for my children, yet love to do these for grandmas, too. Love your creativity and thanks for a little inspiration!
Beautiful! Love the idea of creating things with what we have - so often those things get overlooked for something more shiny.
I love the earrings you did!
nice post thanks for sharing...looking for to visit more blessings
My favorite things to get these days are those small packages containing big, big thoughtfulness. Wonder what I could pull out of my dark, dusty corners. You always get me thinkin', Amy S.
Wait, you mean I could have had a butterfly box??!? So proud of your jewelry skills! You're right, we do all have something hiding in a corner somewhere.
p.s.- I love that you keep writing. I count on coming here and hearing your voice. Keep it up.
Look at you making jewelry! A girl of many talents. Next you'll have a diy show on HGTV. I just know it. :) Thanks for prodding me to dust off my craft box...seriously have been considering doing something all week. Guess I have to now. :)
I'm still figuring that out:) It's part of the journey I guess. We are neighbors at SDG. Blessings!
Great reminder!
ohhhh. couldn't my talent be reading for a little while? just a few days? ha ha. plenty of time for all of it! brushing off those leadership skills for school next year.
Amy, how I love this! Such a treasure for these wonderful women. You are right; we do tend to forget our skills sets. And we all have something to share.
Such a sweet gift, Amy. Love your thoughtfulness.
Did I mention my birthday is in October...?
:0)

BTW - so thankful you linked up. Lovin' all these stories.
What a great reminder to put those gifts in action. Your jewelry is very pretty, simple is better. Found you through Lucy's Acts of Kindness link.
