My friend, Michele, maintains a scandalous and very public love affair. Oh, there's no man involved.
She's wooed by books, and not just any books. My friend, Michele, loves books from the library. She blogs at The Great Read with such passion that after you click away, you frantically dump out your purse to make certain you know where your library card is located.
Michele visited us before, and wrote a smashing post on 10 books that inspire teens, and guess what? She's back. Now, because I'm all about inspiring action, I asked Michele to put together a group of inspirational items for teens that she's discovered at her library.
Here's the fun part. Although it's my hope that you scamper off and embrace materials your local library offers, I also plan on giving away one of the items listed below.
Yepper. Why? Because I want to shower you with a little Valentine's love, and well, no offense, but I'm certainly not lending you with my library card. I mean those late fees are killer, and I already check out books in my nine-year-old's name. Don't ask. Anyway, here's Michele on suggestions for our sweet and often hormonal Valenteens.

"When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young." ~Maya Angelou
This Valentine's Day consider giving the gift of borrowed beauty to your teens. Your local library has everything necessary to inspire and encourage.
Open your valenteen's heart to the ultimate role model of service, the Library.

Thanks, Michele.
Here's how you get the goods.
Leave a comment telling me which of these recommendations you'd like for that special teen in your life. Oh, and if a teen is missing from your life, tell me why you want it for yourself.
So, that's it. Whatcha, whatcha, whatcha want? Comment away. Leave multiple comments for multiple goodies. I will run this until, hmmm, Saturday-ish.Thanks, Michele.

Thank you, Amy! The library offers so many medias for teens, as well as their own teen website and clubs, etc. I'd love for your awesome readers to check into how their local library loves on teens and "serves" as a great role model for all of us.
You are such an inspiration to me.
xoxo michele
Ok, so if I was honest, I don't think my teenage son Jake has been to the library in 10 years. Ugh. Thanks for the great reminder. We have awesome libraries near us, and we just don't use them like we should. :(
As for the giveaway, I think Toby Mac would be a perfect choice for my 17 year old. :)
Sweet blessings
Cindy :)
i used to try building our home library. . . but alas, we don't have the space, and guess what??? the allure of the local library is just too much for them to stand. my kiddos just LOVE going there and perusing the shelves. unfortunately it's not all great literature, but i guess there's a lesson to be learned in there, too :-)
anyhow, my teens would love Soul Surfer. and it would save me so much in rental time and energy :-)

Oh, this is near and dear to my heart! I'm a librarian assistant at two elementary schools and adore my job. Libraries are the best, and they're FREE!!!
I only have one teen left, but when my oldest two were teens, Facing the Giants was impactful, and just recently my not-so-teen daughter was impacted by Soul Surfer. Two hearty recommends!!
And I want to read Kisses from Katie for myself!!!!
Yipee!
All good choices.
I would love for my 15yr old son to read Tim Tebows book and he loves Toby Mac! Great giveaway thanks ; )
Thanks so much Amy for remembering the teens. Such a hard time in their lives and I embrace anything that helps them stay with a pure life. Thanks for the ideas and the library idea too. We love books. I have a boy and a girl and they would love either and we plan to check them out. Also thanks for the idea of sending a Valentine to someone you wouldn't think of. You inspire me!
Shelia got it! Haven't read it yet, but I've wanted to.
I will officially have 2 teenage boys in my house as of next week, both of which love football. How could I not pick Tebow??? If you pick me, I will send you a picture of the three of us tebowing (LOL)!
I adore the library! I'm thinking my son would enjoy Tim Tebow. Thanks for the chance to win, Amy.
Thanks for your honesty, Cindy! You may enjoy using the online website for your local library - did you know you can "shop" your library from a home computer? You can even put books on hold that way (I could not live without this feature). Your son may enjoy "librarying" online as well. We are TobyMac freaks - love his message.
Hope Unbroken - thank you so much for the encouragement and honest feedback. Checking out and finding books/cds/movies/etc. can take energy - getting to know your librarian is a priceless resource (and going online).
Beth - heart you and what you do. You are serving those elementary children to such a gift and your positive and encouraging spirit will inspire lifelong readers!
Hi Sheila!! We too are TobyMac freaks - we attend his concerts within a 100 mile radius whenever he makes it to the NC/SC area. To hear my children singing his songs, it just makes me so happy they carry those inspiring words in their heart.
Courtney - thank you for leaving a sweet comment! My children are still preteen, but they are getting close, and I lean on our library for weekly support, hoping they will continue through their teen years.
Congrats on two "new" teen boys, Heidi! Between Tebow and TobyMac, your house will be extreme! ;)
Hi Jen, so happy to hear there is another library lover out there! They need our support, and we can help just by checking out a few books each week. It is truly a win win for everyone.
xoxo michele
You crack me up: "whatcha, whatcha, whatcha want"
I love Michele's selections here. I just gave my dad the Tim Tebow book and he is enjoying. I am reading Kisses for Katie right now and WOW. It is powerful. Guess I'm like a teenager in my reading selections - cool!
What a great idea!! All the books look so good so it would be hard to choose one. Kisses from Katie looks like it would be such an inspiration to teens who might question if they really can make a difference in this world. Katie proves that they can.
Tebow for sure. He's an individual that stood behind his beliefs regardless how the media portrayed his relationship with God. Love.
