You spend time pounding out blog posts only to have them considered old news two days after they post.
Why not think about a little recycling?
I've had posts reprinted in other places for money, and posts reprinted for fun, but regardless of the dollars involved, recycled posts generate something very valuable, more readers.
This post on How-To Raise Selfish Kids only received 250 hits, but then I recycled and submitted it here.
And all of a sudden, I'm speaking to an audience of 16,000. Nice.
The recycling process prompted me to wonder about you. For those of you who blog, what happens to your old posts? Do you submit them other places? Use them to prompt off-line writing? Allow your words to sit in cyberspace as an online journal of life?
Tell. Tell.

Should you click over to WNC Woman, be sure to check out my friend, Kendra's article (not recycled!) on "Apps for a New You".
On a totally unrelated note, I happen to be addicted to this. Go ahead, crank up the volume. Happy weekend, friends.

Very inspiration, friend. Can't wait to click over to read! Woo-hoo! Great idea because I do not go-get 'em like I should... going to read your recycled post now!

You know I am seriously gonna take you up on this idea. Thanks!
Wow, that Florence + the Machine is rockin'! Love it. I'm so out of touch with mainstream music. You should give me some more suggestions that are groovy like that.
I've been recycling some of my old blog posts at The High Calling on Monday mornings now that we are on a break from book club. I agree. These are good words and they deserve more air time!
I've never thought of using my old posts somewhere else. Great idea!!
Sometimes I go back to an old post and develop it a little more and repost it on my own site. Or blog posts I've written for my own site have fleshed out an idea that I then write for a guest post. I haven't taken the time to figure out how move to the next level. It's wonderful to hear about your success!
Thank you! I never thought of recycling! I just don't know who to send my writing to? I actually started my blog after a piece was accepted at incourage. . but other than that I don't know my way around this blogosphere. I so appreciate any helpful hints or advice you may have.
Have a beautiful weekend friend!
interesting. i've only recycled a couple of things, and just at my own space. things from early on that nobody read :-)
and i hope you checked out the pentatonix sing-off version of that song. i love it, too!
have a great weekend, amy!

This is so helpful! I would love to recycle my posts but I don't know where to send them. A lot of times I try and turn my posts into articles and submit them to magazines....I get picked up every now and then. I'll need to check out the links you refer here. Thanks!
And happy weekend to you, too! So glad to have "met" you!
I have not been blogging that long so most of my followers and friends have read my posts, but I will totally re-cycle my last Christmas' post because I re-read it a few days ago and I still thought: "yeah!, that's right!" :)
Hmmm...this is something to think about! I usually let them sit, mostly because I wonder if the new avenue I submit it to would see it as fresh material since it already has been published. I guess there's only one way to find out, though. So onto some recycling. ;)
great post, great idea. you are talented, do you know that?
Your friend Karrie is right. You need to listen to the link she sent you. Sing off version of that song was CRAZY GOOD! loved it...and oh yeah, all of that music is done acapella. :)
I haven't really thought about recycling them. It is a fabulous idea, though.
I think I need some guidance (and hand-holding, and possibly a box of chocolate) to see me through.
Thanks for giving me permission. :) Love your bloggy world here. Linked up through Tuesdays Unwrapped. I'm your newest follower. Blessings.
Oh my - I just reread my comment and it reads like I'm a smart-elic. I meant permission in like "wow, why haven't I thought of that before?" Thanks again!
