Do you have a cheerleader in your life?
Someone who believes in your ideas even when you forget why they are important?
Does your cheerleader scream praise from a megaphone, or quietly pass you handwritten notes on important days?
Other cheerleaders are strangers who grow into friends.
We long to impact others with our actions, but too often become overwhelmed at the daunting task.
“There’s so much and so many who need help, and I have a heart for that, but find myself with gears jammed because I don’t know where to turn first. . . ” –Patty Christopher, Finding Serendipity.
Our gears jam.
My challenge for you this weekend is to unjam your gears by using your voice to impact.
Think about your cheerleaders, appreciate them, and then, remember to look and discover the people around you in need of a little cheering on.
Question for you: Who can you always count on for encouragement?

Amy, I always count on my hubby and my two adorable children for encouragement.
Love the picture (in the forest)!
thanks for sharing a family pic! i can ALWAYS count on my mom, husband, sisters and brothers.
I wrote a post about this a while back and decided this was my calling in life. I've always been a cheerleader, always on the side lines, but we ALL need a cheerleader in our life don't we? When it seems so insignificant it isn't 'really'.
Oh, and you are a hot momma in this picture, just sayin'....
I can always count on my husband, my mom, and several of my friends. . .what blessings they are! And so I try to be a cheerleader for others as well.
I have a cheerleader named Amy. She is amazing support to me.
Right after the loss of my precious Mama, I had an anonymous cheerleader. I started getting hand-written postcards in the mail. I think there were 18 of them in all. They were beautifully made out of scrap-booking style card stock and always had an inspiring Bible verse or quote on them. Amy thinks she knows who it is, but she isn't telling. Evidently she has received some of those postcards in the past. I think I'm going to have to start doing things like that. :)
This post went in an entirely different direction than I first thought it was going to...As soon as I read the word cheerleader, I thought of your very first couples/marriage devotional. I don't think you made it past the first page because the first thing it told you was that your job was to be Shane's cheerleader. HA! That was soo funny.
In all sincerity (and I know this isn't why you wrote this post) you have been one of my biggest cheerleaders--- and for that I am so grateful!
I didn't answer my questions: My top cheerleaders? My hubby, mom, Lori, Laura, and Renee.
Carolyn,
I love the card idea. I'm going to have to email you about that one.
Ron,
Always love your visits. I wish I could be a cheerleader who lived a little closer!
Yes, I do! Thank you for reminding me to cheer them on more.
nice..we all need cheerleaders in our lives...and we need to be in the lives of others all the more...nice post...
I used to have a cheerleader. But he quit on me. My mom has always been a cheerleader, but I lost her just 10 days ago.
So, I'm taking applications !
Oh, David....I am so so sorry for your losses. May you feel the Lord's peace.
I am so blessed to have many people who cheer me on and one in particular that cheers me on to only do the things God has called me to do!
My cheerleaders seem to be so few in my life, but I am constantly cheered on and supported by my husband. He is such a strong, loving, stable source of love and encouragement in my life. I also have cheerleaders in my daughter, my sisters, and my Mom. What would we do without them? Thanks, Amy, for calling our attention and appreciation to those who lift others up. It is such an everyday needed ministry.
Mom...always mom 'the greatest cheerleader'--in two days it would have been her 70th birthday, two of her sisters especially have sought to fill her shoes encouraging and I am so thankful for them. one who gave me priceless encouragement about '31 Days to His Heart'...God is so, so good to me!
my daughter..or daughter's' I should say. They both are so encouraging to me.
They are always telling me I can when I think I can't...

I have a friend named Rachel who's an amazing cheerleader. I started teaching Sun. school last weekend. She came to my church and attended my class just because she knows she makes me brave. I didn't know she was coming and still tear up everytime I think about it. What an incredible friend!
My mom's an awesome cheerleader, too.
Hi Amy, I love this post - it reminds me to be thankful for the cheerleaders I have, usually quiet encouragers. But also encourages me to be like them and do the same for others :)
