Napping and Refocus

Whew. I am back, and I feel refreshed. Thanks for your sweet comments, encouragement, and emails.

My time away from blogland proved productive in a totally non-productive kind of way.

My unplugged highlight: Pretending to nap with a certain two-year-old just so I could hear her breathe. Fine, I fell asleep too, but the deep, heavy breaths of my tiny one proved to be the exact remedy I needed to put my world into perspective.

Things I race to complete: not important.

Lives of those around me: very important.

Yes, the sweet sounds of napping helped me refocus.

What about you? What's the one thing you can always count on to help you regain focus?

Amy i love this post. and for me what helps me refocus.. when I take time to sip coffee with Jesus.. i know that sounds silly but it's true. Coffee makes me slow down and pause and experience jesus :-)

I love this, Amy!

I can't count how many times looking into my little guy's eyes or hearing them laugh help me refocus.

Every day is a gift.

Glad to see you back. :)

Wow, Amy. I was prepared for a long haul without you. Glad you didn't make us wait forever.

As for your question... a long talk with my husband usually puts me back where I need to be. If he is not available (crazy schedule), there is certain gospel music that does the trick.

Whew! You're back!!!! I'm serious girl, you had me scared there for a minute. You left me hanging back at the "embrace your inner old lady" clif hanger post. I was all excited about hearing that post and you leave me high and dry. I'm like "what the heck is so bad with thinking in blog posts anyways?" I'm kidding. I'm very glad you did what you needed to do. But I'm glad you're back because writing is your thing.

Pulling away for awhile definitely helps us refocus. I don't have little ones around anymore to hear those sweet sounds of napping, but I definitely treasure sweet sounds of silence. :-)

You were Missed Miss Amy! And there is nothing like a sleeping baby right tight with Momma. I'm glad you got refreshed and feel rested. Good for you, again, missed you there my dear!

And...she's back! So, so glad. Don't you just feel so loved reading all these comments. People love you and there are oh-so-many reasons why.

Currently, watching old home videos of the kids when they were wee little ones has brought me back to focusing on what is important.

You are back! Yay!

Cuddling up with my family always puts me at peace and pushes the unimportant things away. Such a blessing.

welcome back!
doing things that are important to me--putting my pictures in permanent memory form, just sitting in the quiet of the morning and listening to Jesus, just "being" with my people around here (of the not-so-little-anymore sore). taking the time to. slow. down. life has felt like a rat race lately. and that leaves me feeling stressed, teary-eyed, and ready to shut the world out in isolation. never a good place to be.
glad you're feeling refreshed and refocused :-)

Haha! Shows how I am with blogland these days! It seemed like you were back so quickly...I've been taking many of these breaks, somehow learning just how BIG He is in the midst of all my thwarted doings these days:}

Love the sweet two year-old breathing...yes, this is something to tuck into tight and not let go of!

Much love to you, friend! xoxo

WHat a great image Amy.

When we had kid nap times, I always volunteered to put them down. The sometimes I confess to drowning out the little breaths of air with my temprorary snoring.

Refocus? Exercise seems to work for me.

exercise...of which since moving I have not had time for. Just not been a priority but now that you ask the question...I see why I need to add it back in again..yes? oh thank you for such a simple question.
And I too know what you mean by laying hearing them breathe..isn't that the most precious thing?
xo

I regain focus with a run outdoors. A cup of tea is good, too!

Outside. Nature. Time and space. That's what helps me refocus.

I'm feeling the need for some right now...

Spending time with God in the yard. I just got back in from 25 minutes outdoors -- just sitting in a chair in the middle of the backyard doing nothing. When I started I prayed to God, "Please, please revive me." When I was done, I was revived. No lie. I really didn't think it would work, but it did!

Glad you're back!

A cool quiet house without obligations -- permission from myself to turn the phone off. A day to visit God, visit the blogs which feed me and prayer after each one --either for the friend writing or the application of truth to my heart. That's how I refuel.
