These two fit in a box, and they just may arrive at your house in three to five days.
Meet Little Miss “I drawing”. Translation: I am using a rock to carve a wonderful piece of art into the side of your car.
And then there is Little Miss “Actually, I don’t think you said that”. Translation: I ignored you the first five times you asked me to get my dance clothes, and even though I heard you on times six, seven, and eight, I found myself too busy to comply.
Sometimes in the cereal spilled, shampoo dumped, laundry scattered happenings of my life, I lose focus of my most important mission, my girls. And sometimes, I overlook all of the lessons they teach me because I’m so determined to impart great wisdom to them.
Yes, thank you notes are imperative, but so are mud caked hands.
Yes, keeping your feet off the table is important, but so is excitement about clouds.
Yes, bananas are a must, but so are Pop Rocks.
What about you? What lessons are your kids teaching you?
Linking up with Erin today.

I love when you share pictures! They are so adorable. Did Ruby really draw on you car? I bet that went over well with the husband :)
My kids are teaching me not to limit what can be done. I don't ever want to put on a cap on trying new things or dreaming big. They don't.
I think you are an amazing momma, and truth be told, when I need inspiration I will remember things I have seen you do as a mother and use them here with my two. So, I'm a fan of all things Amy, and I think you rock in every way :)
My girls are teaching me that though our culture pushes them to do so, they do NOT have to grow up quite so fast! They still love their dolls, dressing up and all sorts of imaginative play.
right now, and htis is awesome, my kids are teaching me to procalim my life in christ boldly.
Oh dear. How's the car? Yikes.
My children are reminding me to go slow. Hannah moving rolly-pollies out of the driveway before riding her bike so she doesn't squash them. Slow, thoughtful, considerate.
My kids are always teaching me patience. I love the translations...too much funny!
Lor,
Thanks for the mom encouragement. My gosh, there are days when I certainly need it.
Esther,
Oh, I am trying to put the brakes on growing too fast. Hopefully, babies and store, and pretend kingdoms will be around for a few more years!
Jen,
The driver's side door is pretty scratched up. She was practicing her "R's" which unfortunately look like about eight rainbows. Grrr.
Jensamom23,
So glad to meet you through the link-up!
So beautifully said - and such precious girls you have! In these days, I think my girls are teaching me to really pay attention when they talk, to listen with not only my ears, but my heart.
The first time my little niece used 'actually', I almost fell off the chair laughing. They can be a hoot.
My kid teaches me to believe in myself as a mother. Trust my instincts. They are usually right.
Wow...this is awesome. I love the messyness of kids, I really do. It's just love in the truest sense. I would probably be a bit frustrated about the artwork on the car, though.
My kids are teaching me to listen. They want to know I'm present.
Thanks so much for linking up, I loved your post!!
Erin,
Linking-up today, and visiting some new people was fun. I've been wanting to do this since you started it, but. . .you know how it goes! Hope to do this more consistently.
I would have read anyway, but so glad you linked with Erin:) and I'd seen the title but not reading till now and I just didn't know what was arriving...well, you can send them and we'll have fun for about 2 hours together and then I'll send them back but they might get tired of the box, don't you think?
my daughter is teaching me to 'let go' as she rolls in mud and just loves life...honestly, this one is so like her namesake, my mama, with her little wit and just spitfire determination...what can you do but smile and say 'eh, eh...no drop' shaking your head 17 times...
My daughter teaches me to find blessings in the small things, to find joy in the mundane and to always remember to check pockets before I put jeans into the dryer (because crayons do melt!)
i hope you're sending those two cuties to my house! bailey woke up this morning and her first words were "it's Ruby's birthday!" we love your girls :)
and you are such a good mama! i look up to you in so many ways and i look forward to seeing how gracious and amazing your two turn out. it will be fun and inspiring to watch!
This made me smile today. :-) My daughters are now 21 and 16, and I miss those young days. But they still teach me lessons all the time--and often in adult words now! ha. Being a mom is one of the most life-changing transformations I've been through. It has helped me see God in more ways than I dreamed possible, and see more of the ugly in myself than I knew existed. Thankful for the grace of motherhood!
Your girls are adorable! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog-very cool you spent some time in Indiana!! :)
Oh Amy, send them along anytime!!!! Such a sweet and real post and, such wisdom. Kids have so much to teach us about what is really important and eternal. Dust will always accumulate but those clouds may never be in that formation again.
