My Girls, My Mission

We all have a mission. We pray. We write. We listen. We read. We blog, and sometimes we discover direction, but often I worry that while in search of the big answers, we dismiss the daily opportunities pitter-pattering across our floors.

*My tiny attempt at poetry. Feel free to throw things at your screen.

And they walk
in a direction that seems
too far away.

Stumbling
on railroad ties and big
problems in tiny lives-
mean girls, independence,"Do you think my teeth are too big?"

Aching
to give them something
to hold
when the bus ride is too long.

Sum it up friends, what are you giving your kids this week? Your time? Your direction? Your example?

Oh, Amy -- as mamas, we ache to give them so much. Love your poem and the sweet, sweet picture. Can't imagine what it would be like to have girls...

What am I giving this week? Food (plenty of it) and hugs and a safe place to land. Can't wait to give my boys a scwudge.

LOVE the poetry! :)

You know, I thought about these same questions yesterday. Hannah pulled out her play phone as she was riding her bike. I told her that it was not safe to "text and ride." How many times have they seen me pull out my phone to answer it (not text, though!)? It's a small thing, but leads to much bigger questions as to how I am an example to them.

Your poem is sweet. From a mommy's heart...

Amy this was not an attempt, this was poetry. It was beautiful and sincere. What am I giving my kids so far I don't want to think about it. What can I give my kids, attention and love. It's the little things that are important. The big things will wait. My kids should never have to.

Oh, I love this! We are so on the same page. I blogged today about how I am going to be present this week for my children. How i need to stop the constant multitasking, and just be. So I did that today, gave them my time and full attention, and it was great.

Thanks to all for reading and responding!

As I scrolled down the page, I smiled at all the different writing I've read today (some from these very ladies above!). Thank you for your voice, your writing, and your desire to grow. Your faith rubs off on this little community, and it pushes me on.

I love this! I'm giving my sweet one some extra time and trying to say yes more. It already feels like it's all passing too quickly. So I'm trying to be more present with her this week, unplugging, snuggling more. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours :) (And I loved the poetry!)

This was so lovely, Amy. I loved it all! The girls are beautiful, and that picture could be in a magazine. Even without the poem, the picture says so much. Ruby looks so serious! :)I am definitely excited to give my children some time where I am completely free from distractions!
